It is not a secret that Facebook is a powerhouse when it comes to connecting with people. But how can you as a business connect effectively with people on Facebook.
To know that first we have to understand Facebook and understand why people use Facebook.
See, Facebook has become part of our daily lives. It is one of the first things we check when we wake up in the morning, is how we stay connected with friends and family, is how we find out about events, and it keeps us entertain. It is how we interact with people.
So great you would say, I have a bunch of people here, I have a brand, a service, a product that I’m selling so I’m going to post my offers and coupons on Facebook and get a lot of business…right…? Wrong!
Stop with the sales advertisements and start giving your readers useful content, give them something that inspires them, something that you would share on your wall if you read it. Give value to your post and people will react.
If your Facebook fans like what you are posting, you have a better chance for them to share it in their wall. And you understand the power of that right? When your posts are being shared by other people they reach a whole new group of people that could potentially like your page. This can snowballed and you can start getting way more fans / likes than ever before.
I know you might be thinking this is all well and good but “why would I give people all this information for free, how would this help me attracted more business if I am not selling my product and services.” The key lays in bringing your readers back to your website and here is where the potential sale can happen.
Think about it as someone being outside of your business and they see a sign that says FREE ICE CREAM! They will come in for the free ice cream and now they are inside your store. This is your chance to get to know each other better; you can talk about your great product and services or you can talk about that delicious ice cream and how happy you are that they are enjoying it. They might still not buy right on the spot but you created awareness, you created a business opportunity. Who knows maybe they don’t need your product and services…. but, they might know someone that does and you will be recommended 😉

Use images on you Facebook post
Don’t just post plane text… add an interesting image to your post, we are all visual beings and a good image will make you stand out from all the clutter.
Link back to your website
Facebook and any other social media are “rental spaces” you don’t own it and you don’t have total control over them…. but in your website you are the absolute king of the castle. Here you make the rules. So drive people to your site and make that sale (don’t go crazy either…. you don’t want to be annoying.)
Share things you like, news, videos, give real tips and that you think would be helpful to your audience. Be yourself, be human. I know you want more likes but don’t get hang-up on just that. Be real!
Like other pages
Yes, like other pages, leave comments on those pages, be active, be part of the community.
Complete your profile page!
One big mistake people make is not to complete their fan page profile. You go visit them and they have no cover photo, no description and a random profile picture…. this does not scream I want to be your friend…. so please, complete your profile page and give it your identity.
